Inspiration Through Distraction

Inspiration Through Distraction

I’ve been in a really weird art funk lately…where I feel like everything I create is either badly done or the method is completely wrong. Which I admit is kind of silly, but it’s all part of the process, or so they say. Everyone has their own way of dealing with this dilemma. Some choose to double down and force themselves to create, producing less-than-desirable quality work. I guess that’s one way of getting it out of your system. However, I have taken up a few outdoor activities to keep me from staring at a blank canvas wondering why everything I make sucks.

Urban Mushing or bikejoring for short, is one of those activities. It’s something I can do with my dog, Mavi. All you really need is a bike, a harness, and a dog willing to run! Bikejoring has been such a wonderful experience for us both. It’s helped improve my mental health, and over-all well-being. In addition, Mavi the Siberian Husky gets his necessary daily exercise. Along the way we take several short breaks, allowing us to take in and appreciate our surroundings, which I hope will serve as inspiration in my artwork in the long run.

What are some of your methods of finding inspiration?
